These past few weeks have been difficult as we all adjust our lifestyles in a world with physical distancing, working remotely and only leaving home for the most essential reasons.

In a time of uncertainty it’s also a time of strength and resiliency. It’s heartwarming to see messages of hope and encouragement for essential workers and community members stepping up to help those in need.

Earlier this year we hosted an event with a panel of experts in the medtech industry. One of them was Armen Bakirtzian, Chief Executive Officer, Director and Co-Founder of Kitchener-based Intellijoint Surgical

When there were positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Waterloo Region, Armen and his team knew they wanted to help.

"Interactions with family and friends are an important part of a patient's care plan and experience while admitted at a hospital," said Armen Bakirtzian, CEO and Co-founder of Intellijoint Surgical. "With COVID-19, visitor restrictions have been implemented eliminating visits with loved ones. Through the donation of these iPads, we hope to restore these essential interactions digitally while keeping everyone safe."

Intellijoint has made a generous donation to Grand River Hospital that will allow it to purchase more tablets so patients can connect with loved ones. Like hospitals and other health care facilities across the country, Grand River Hospital had to make the difficult decision to reduce visitors.

The tablets will be provided to patients to communicate with their family and friends at home. It eases the pain of being in hospital, and creates a stronger connection for everyone affected.

We’re so grateful for Intellijoint’s support and for being one of the first donors to step up in response to COVID-19.

Don’t forget to keep in touch with people you know. Send a text, share a photo or start a video chat and let your friends and family know you’re thinking of them. We’re all in this together.
