Supporting Our Shared Vision One Stitch at a Time

Loraine Berge is a long-time Grand River Hospital supporter who is committed to making a difference in our community. Since her retirement, Loraine has made and donated thousands of comfort quilts to health care patients, and now she is generously auctioning off four of her beautiful quilts to raise money for the future of local health care and Grand River Hospital’s joint long-term vision with St. Mary’s General Hospital: Building the Future of Care Together.

The four quilts available in the auction are Patchwork and Dogs, featuring a riot of colours and patterns on the front and a group of whimsical Scooby Doo images frolicking on the back; Patchwork Squares With Peach, with a collection of carefully crafted squares complemented by a vibrant peach background; Pink Flowers Quilt, which features a collection of exquisite flower patterns scattered across a pink background; and Star Patchwork With Blue Stripes, with blue stripes and 8-sided stars on a stunning pink background. The auction opens on Monday, April 10th, and with all that goes into creating these lovely quilts, bidding will begin at $275. All of the money raised will support the hospital.

At Grand River Hospital Foundation, we believe in empowering supporters to give to the projects and programs they care about most and in the ways that they are passionate about. As a long-time supporter of the hospital, Loraine knows the importance of supporting current needs in health care—this support enables the highest level of patient care and enhance the hospital experience for our community right here and right now. But Loraine also feels passionately about supporting our community’s health and well-being over the long term, and with this fundraiser, she hopes to contribute to helping our community become a hub for world class health care for generations to come.

You can bid on Loraine’s quilts online until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21st in support of the shared vision to build a health care system that meets the needs of our growing community.
