The Foundation is in the midst of a significant digital transformation journey. Our ability to solve the most interesting problems to rally the communities we serve is greatly enhanced with better use of data. Data & Analytics are fundamental to this transformation but we need some smart people to help us get it figured out. The introduction of many critical foundational capabilities means that we are looking to accelerate our ability to solve problems and ultimately drive fundraising and a world class health system.

This job is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The program requires that you must be:

• Between the age of 15 and 30 at the start of employment;
• Have a valid SIN at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Person to whom refugee protection has been granted.
• International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.

Attributes

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program related to data science, e.g., Math & Stats, Computer/Computational Science, Machine Learning, etc.
• Knowledgeable in Machine Learning, Probability Theory, and Linear Algebra
• Analytical thinking and problem solving
• Algorithm design
• Communication skills

What You'll Do

• Use data science knowledge to design and develop novel tools to process data and generate insight that creates business value
• Provide data science training to peers and help them develop knowledge of data science tools and techniques
• You’ll design metrics and dashboards to help us rally the community and make better data-based decisions
• You'll dive deep into our data sets to investigate trends and give actionable recommendations to our product and revenue teams
• You’ll utilize your skills to predict customer behaviour and turn data into a competitive advantage
• Modelling (i.e. functional, data, business etc.) & Testing (Unit, Integration & Load)
• Analyze and assess the effectiveness of current practices through qualitative and quantitative data to deliver improved outcomes and efficiencies
• Utilize analytics, systems and tools for data presentation, aggregation, disaggregation, visualization and analytics to identify patterns and interactions within performance measurement data
• Track and report on processes, proposed changes, and targeted measures to provide the highest quality of service and experience for all participants
• Create and maintain recurring and ad-hoc reporting, supporting the interpretation and troubleshooting of the underlying data and aiding in design and testing as required
• Demonstrate strong customer service orientation and deliver services within contract and internal requirements
